Biography

Abraham Morgentaler, MD, FACS, is an international authority on men’s health and a pioneer in the study and treatment of testosterone deficiency. For more than 30 years, his research has challenged long-held medical beliefs and helped transform the understanding and clinical treatment of testosterone deficiency in men.

His scientific work began with studies of testosterone in lizards and later expanded to humans. His research on testosterone and prostate cancer played an important role in reversing the decades-old belief that testosterone therapy inherently increases prostate cancer risk and helped change medical practice worldwide.

Dr. Morgentaler is the Blavatnik Faculty Fellow in Health and Longevity at Harvard Medical School. He has published more than 200 scientific articles, has an h-index of 60, and his work has appeared in The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, JAMA, and other leading medical journals.

In 1999, he founded Men’s Health Boston, the first comprehensive men’s health center in the United States, and later co-founded the Androgen Society. His contributions to the field have been recognized with the 2024 Grandmaster in Testosterone Award and the 2025 SMSNA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dr. Morgentaler is the bestselling author of Testosterone for Life, as well as The Truth About Men and Sex and The Viagra Myth. Through T4L Education, he continues to advance physician education in testosterone therapy and men’s health through international congresses and the Masterclass in Testosterone Therapy.

    Graduated from Harvard Medical School.

  2. 1988

    Completed the Harvard Residency Program in Urology.

  3. 1999

    Founded Men's Health Boston, one of the first practices devoted to male sexual and reproductive health.

  4. 2004

    Published the review challenging the assumption that testosterone therapy causes prostate cancer.

  5. 2008

    Published Testosterone for Life, written for patients and general readers.

  6. 2020

    Founded T4L Education to teach clinicians internationally.
